Biography

My name is Malin Pihlstroem, a 29-year-old student from Stockholm, Sweden, set to graduate with master’s degrees in Human Rights (Uppsala University) and Communication for Development (Malmö University). My passion for global development began with a bachelor’s in global development at Stockholm University, shaped by extensive travel and a commitment to social justice, particularly women’s empowerment and peacebuilding. I have received prestigious scholarships for studying human rights in China and conducting field research on women’s empowerment in Ghana. My international studies include Peace and Security at ANU (Australia) and Charles University (Czechia). I interned at Operation 1325, focusing on women, peace, and security in the Middle East. Currently, my master’s thesis explores UN Resolution 2272 and the UN’s relationship with civil society and media. I also volunteer at a women’s shelter and mentor vulnerable adolescents. Passionate about human rights and advocacy, I hope to contribute to the Universal Youth Alliance through impactful collaboration and meaningful change.
